Yamazaki - 55 Year Old - Whisky

The Yamazaki Legacy

Ingrédients

  • 45 ml Yamazaki 55 Year Old Whisky
  • 15 ml Japanese umeshu (plum liqueur)
  • 10 ml yuzu juice (fresh)
  • 5 ml honey syrup (1:1 ratio)
  • 2 dashes of Angostura bitters
  • 1 dash of Peychaud's bitters

Préparation

  1. Chill a crystal rocks glass by filling it with ice and setting aside for 2 minutes.
  2. In a mixing glass filled with premium ice, combine the yuzu juice, honey syrup, and both types of bitters.
  3. Stir the mixture for 10 seconds to integrate the components.
  4. Discard the ice from the chilled rocks glass and add one large hand-carved ice cube (approximately 5cm x 5cm).
  5. Pour the Yamazaki 55 Year Old Whisky into the mixing glass and stir gently for 30 seconds with a bar spoon.
  6. Strain the mixture over the ice cube in the rocks glass.
  7. Top with the umeshu and yuzu mixture, pouring slowly to create a layered effect.

Service

Serve in a crystal rocks glass with a single large hand-carved ice cube. Garnish with a thin, 5cm-long strip of yuzu peel expressed over the surface to release oils, then place the peel on the rim. Add a single dried chrysanthemum flower floated on the surface for visual sophistication.
