About this grappa

Nonino is the Friulian distillery that transformed grappa's reputation, pioneering single-varietal and single-vineyard expressions long before either concept was fashionable. This Riserva Cru Monovitigno is distilled from Moscato pomace and aged for 19 years, placing it firmly in the territory of serious aged spirits rather than anything you'd bracket with a digestivo.

Expect the floral and stone-fruit character of Moscato to have softened and deepened through long wood contact into something closer to dried apricot, candied orange peel, and warm spice, with a texture that will satisfy guests who reach for aged Cognac. Serve neat in a tulip glass, ideally alongside dark chocolate or aged cheese.

The Moscato Reserve

Ingredients

  • 45 ml Nonino Riserva Cru Monovitigno Moscato 19 Years Grappa
  • 20 ml Dry Vermouth
  • 15 ml Crème de Violette
  • 10 ml Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 5 ml Honey Syrup
  • 2 Dashes of Angostura Bitters
  • Ice for stirring

Method

  1. Fill a mixing glass with ice
  2. Add the grappa, dry vermouth, crème de violette, fresh lemon juice, and honey syrup
  3. Add the angostura bitters
  4. Stir continuously for 30 seconds until well-chilled
  5. Strain into the prepared glass using a fine strainer

Serve

Serve in a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a crystallized violet placed on the surface of the drink and a delicate lemon twist expressed over the top and rested on the rim. Present with the bottle visible to the side of the glass to showcase the premium grappa.
