Tasting notes

Deep garnet in color with brooding aromas of black olive, wild herbs, leather, and dark plum, layered with notes of garrigue, smoked meat, and earthy mineral undertones. On the palate, this Mourvèdre-driven Bandol is structured and full-bodied, offering flavors of blackberry, dried fig, and iron with a firm tannic backbone. The finish is long, savory, and persistent, with a characteristic southern Provençal rusticity that rewards patience.

About this wine

Château Pradeaux is one of Bandol's most traditional estates, producing Mourvedre-dominant reds from the sun-baked limestone terraces behind Toulon. Bandol Rouge is a serious, age-worthy expression of the appellation: Mourvedre demands extended oak ageing under AOC rules, and Pradeaux is known for taking that further than most.

Expect a dense, structured wine with dark fruit, black olive, blackberry, smoked meat, alongside earthy, almost animal depth and firm, grippy tannins that soften with time. On board, pair it with rack of lamb, venison, or anything off the grill with real flavour to stand up to it.
