Deep garnet with brick-tinged edges, this Riserva opens with layers of dried cherry, blackberry compote, and violet, framed by notes of leather, tobacco, sweet baking spice, and forest floor. The palate is full-bodied and powerful, with ripe dark fruit, licorice, and a savory mineral thread. Firm yet polished tannins and vibrant acidity give excellent structure, while the warmth of the 15% alcohol is well integrated. The finish is long and resonant, echoing cherry, cocoa, and earthy spice.

About this wine
Castiglion del Bosco Millecento 1100 is a Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG from Tuscany, made from 100% Sangiovese. The Riserva designation means longer ageing before release than standard Brunello, and that extra time shows in the structure.
Expect the appellation's hallmarks: sour cherry, dried herbs and leather, with firm tannin and fresh acidity. Decant it before service. On board, it suits beef, lamb, venison and game birds, and holds up to roast poultry with a rich jus. Serve it with the main course, where its grip has fat and protein to work against.
