The 2019 La Tâche Grand Cru is sublime. Mingling aromas of wild berries and bergamot with notions of rose petals, exotic spices, violets, clove and cinnamon, it's full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a multidimensional palate of breathtaking plenitude. Elegantly muscular, this is a vibrant, pristinely balanced wine that concludes with a long, resonant finish. More structured and broader shouldered than the ethereal Romanée-Conti itself, this will demand and richly reward bottle age.

While the 2017 La Tâche Grand Cru is one of the most approachable recent vintages of this great monopole, it's still really too soon to be opening bottles. However, these things happen, and it's certainly a striking wine, unwinding in the glass with detailed aromas of wild berries, plums, exotic spices, orange, rose petals, peony and coniferous forest floor. Full-bodied, satiny and seamless, its beautifully refined tannins and succulent acids are cloaked in an ample core of fruit. Like many of the best 2017s, its charm is deceptive, as there's a lot waiting in reserve here, and even a few years' patience will bear dividends.

The 2014 La Tâche Grand Cru was picked on 17, 18 and 20 September at 32 hectoliters per hectare, bottled between 1 and 25 April 2016. It has a quite startling bouquet: dark berry fruit, bay leaf, hints of jasmine tea and autumn leaves. It delivers multi-faceted aromatics, a mercurial bouquet, brown spices emerging with continued aeration in the glass. It is a tad more forward than I expected. The palate is medium-bodied with great structure and fine grip. This is a slightly more masculine La Tâche and replicating its performance in barrel, the fruit spectrum shimmies from red to black (incidentally, exactly as I observed when I tasted it in barrel). There is a lovely lift on the finish that leaves you with a piquant kiss on the cheek. This is wonderful. 1,929 cases produced.

This is another legend in a bottle and, as such, must be tasted with caution to avoid falling victim to the classic Stendhal Syndrome and thus the incapacity to appreciate any other wine and the risk of falling into a deep depression.The color is a lively but not too concentrated red with orange nuances of maturity on the edge. Like the Leroy wine the bouquet is absolutely explosive. Their intensity make instantly recognizable the notes of bramble bush filled with berries, hematic sensations and gushing amounts of blood orange to then end with turmeric and cinnamon. The mouthfeel is also explosive and one is at a loss to try and follow all the arrays of notes that are there to amaze and it can do this because this is no ordinary wine, it is a legend, it is La Tache.

The wines are often described as ethereal, with layers of complexity that unfold with each sip. They have the ability to age gracefully for decades, developing even greater depth and complexity over time.

Le chardonnay est le premier cépage des vins blancs de Bourgogne, avec 48% de l'encépagement et 68% de la production. Le chardonnay apprécie le sol marneux de la Bourgogne, qui lui confère de délicats arômes floraux, fruités et minéraux, ainsi que des saveurs corsées. L'aligoté est le deuxième cépage blanc, avec 6 % de la production. {En savoir plus sur l'ancien cépage aligoté en Bourgogne.}

La Tache is a highly esteemed wine producer located in the Burgundy region of France. The vineyard is situated in the Cote de Nuits area, which is known for producing some of the finest Pinot Noir wines in the world. La Tache is particularly renowned for its Grand Cru wine, which is made from Pinot Noir grapes grown on a small plot of land measuring just 6.06 hectares.

The history of La Tache dates back to the 14th century, when the vineyard was owned by the Abbey of Saint-Vivant. In the 16th century, the vineyard was acquired by the de Croonembourg family, who owned it until the French Revolution. In the 19th century, the vineyard was purchased by the Liger-Belair family, who still own it today.

La Tache is known for its traditional style of winemaking, which involves using only natural yeasts and minimal intervention in the winemaking process. The grapes are hand-picked and sorted, and then fermented in open vats. The wine is aged in oak barrels for up to 18 months, which gives it a complex and nuanced flavour profile.

The wines produced by La Tache are known for their elegance, finesse, and complexity. They are characterised by their intense aromas of red fruit, spices, and earthy notes, as well as their silky tannins and long, lingering finish. The Grand Cru wine is particularly sought after by collectors and wine enthusiasts, and is considered one of the finest examples of Pinot Noir in the world.

Overall, La Tache is a producer that is highly respected in the wine world, and its wines are sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike. Its traditional style of winemaking, combined with its exceptional terroir and attention to detail, make it one of the most highly regarded wine producers in Burgundy, and indeed, the world.
