Padro & Co. is a Catalan vermouth producer, and Rojo Amargo, 'red bitter', is a style that sits at the drier, more herb-forward end of the Spanish vermouth spectrum. Made in Catalonia at 18% ABV, it draws on the regional tradition of botanically driven, wine-based aperitifs that have defined Barcelona bar culture for generations.

Expect a structured, bittersweet palate with aromatic herbs, dried citrus peel and a clean, lingering finish. Serve over ice with a twist of orange and a splash of soda, or use as a serious base for Negroni variations. Ideal for sundowner service on deck.

The Bitter Rojo

Ingredients

  • 60 ml Padro & Co. Rojo Amargo Vermouth
  • 30 ml aged rum
  • 15 ml Campari
  • 10 ml fresh lemon juice
  • 5 ml honey syrup
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 1 dash orange bitters

Method

  1. Fill a mixing glass with ice.
  2. Add the Padro & Co. Rojo Amargo Vermouth, aged rum, Campari, fresh lemon juice, honey syrup, and both bitters.
  3. Stir continuously for 12-15 seconds until well-chilled.
  4. Strain into the prepared glass using a fine strainer.

Serve

Serve in a coupe glass with a single large ice cube; garnish with a flame-torched orange twist expressed over the surface and a Luxardo maraschino cherry skewered on a cocktail pick resting across the rim.
