Texturally stunning, with equal parts richness and grace, this offers a cascade of fig paste and cassis liqueur flavors layered atop iron and burned leaf notes. Round, broad-shouldered and warm, with perfect tension to match. Stretches out with smoke, orange peel acidity and talc-fine tannins. Delicious

About this wine
M. Chapoutier's Barbe Rac is a Châteauneuf-du-Pape from the southern Rhône, built on Grenache grown on the appellation's stony, heat-retaining soils that push ripeness deep into the fruit. It's a full-bodied red with real weight and structure, true to its address.
Expect ripe dark fruit, garrigue spice and a warming 14.5% abv, with enough density to age but plenty of generosity to enjoy on release. Serve at 16–18°C with lamb, grilled lamb chops, pork or roasted poultry, dishes with the fat and char to match its power.
