The wine is layered with fragrant aromas and exotic flavours. Lime, lavender and jasmine aromas first appear on the nose infused with spices of clove and hints of nutmeg followed by lemon thyme, white each and pear aromas. With every sip, more and more flavours are exposed hinting towards roasted pineapple, lemongrass and rooibos and ever so slightly wild buchu, saffron, ginger and also black truffles. There are hints of wood aged characters but no visible oak. It is a beautifully crafted and sophisticated wine with lots of mystery, layered flavours and rich finesse of balanced fruit and acidity with a long, lovely finish and lingering aftertaste.

About this wine
Chrysalis is Lourensford's white blend from Stellenbosch, grown on the estate's slopes above the Lourens River. The blend draws on Chardonnay and Viognier for its core, with Cabernet Sauvignon in the mix lending an unusual textural backbone rarely seen in a white wine. At 13.5% abv it sits in the fuller, food-friendly bracket typical of Stellenbosch whites.
Expect a wine with weight and grip alongside orchard-fruit and floral lift, built to stand up to richer dishes rather than fade into the background. Serve at 10-12°C with lobster, sushi, roast chicken or grilled turkey.
