The grapes for the no-sulfur-added white Arbois Savagnin Amphore were destemmed by hand, fermented with a five-month maceration, half of them in 420-liter French amphorae and the other half in Qvevry, and then pressed. Then, equal parts of the wine matured in barrel and French amphorae for six months. It's an orange wine with a deep color, quite cloudy, there's something earthy, a sensation of clay that makes it a bit powdery/rustic. The skin maceration has marked it greatly, with notes of quince paste and yellow flowers, marked tannins and a bitter finish. This is more about the process than the grape or place.

About this wine
Benedicte et Stephane Tissot are a family-run winery based in Arbois, France. Founded in the late 19th century, the winery has been producing wines for over a century. Their flagship wine is the Savignin Amphore, a unique white wine made from the Savignin grape variety. The wine is aged in amphorae, which gives it a distinctive character and complexity.
The wine has a pale yellow colour with aromas of citrus, white flowers and a hint of smoke. On the palate, it is full-bodied and has a long finish with notes of honey and almond. The wine pairs well with seafood, poultry and cheese dishes. It is a great example of the unique terroir of Arbois and a testament to the skill of the Tissot family.
