A polished, structured Grand Cru from the heart of Vosne-Romanée’s elite terroirs, showing both depth and refinement, but still clearly in a youthful phase. On the nose, it opens with crushed raspberry, black cherry, and wild strawberry, layered with violet, rose petal, and subtle spice (clove, cinnamon). With aeration, more complex notes emerge: forest floor, damp earth, truffle, cedar, and a touch of cocoa and smoked meat, reflecting its Grand Cru depth. The palate is medium to full-bodied, concentrated, and very finely structured, with a core of pure red and dark berry fruit. Tannins are firm but silky, giving a tight, elegant frame rather than heaviness. There is a clear sense of mineral tension and limestone drive, typical of Grands-Echézeaux, which keeps the wine precise rather than opulent. Acidity is lively and perfectly integrated, giving lift and ageing potential. The finish is very long, layered, and slightly savoury, with lingering notes of red fruit, spice, and earthy complexity.

About this wine
Albert Bichot's Clos Frantin represents one of Burgundy's most distinguished négociant operations, built on over 160 years of winemaking expertise in France's most prestigious region. The house maintains meticulous control over production, from vineyard selection through bottling, ensuring each release meets exacting standards worthy of fine dining establishments and serious collectors.
Grands-Échezeaux is among Burgundy's most celebrated appellations, and this Pinot Noir expresses the terroir's characteristic elegance and complexity. Situated on prime vineyard slopes with ideal sun exposure, the fruit develops the structure and refinement expected at this level. At 14% ABV, the wine achieves natural balance, neither over-extracted nor overly austere, making it suitable for extended cellaring or immediate enjoyment in refined settings.
This red pairs exceptionally with beef, lamb, duck, and roasted poultry, while also complementing charcuterie and cured meats. Whether served at a private dinner party or in a fine dining context, Clos Frantin delivers the consistency and pedigree Onshore Cellars customers expect from top Burgundy producers.
