Tasting notes

Bright ruby red. Complex and inviting nose, with cherries, strawberries, soft notions of resin and undergrowth, with resonating notes of chestnut honey. Complex on the palate, followed by compact tannins and a subtle ferrous core, full of tension, with a lovely arc, long and elegant.

About this wine

Scarpa is a renowned winery located in the Piedmont region of Italy, with a rich history that dates back to the early 19th century. One of the most popular wines produced by Scarpa is La Bogliona, a Barbera d'Asti DOCG. This wine is made from 100% Barbera grapes, which are carefully selected and hand-harvested to ensure only the best quality fruit is used in the winemaking process.

The production of La Bogliona is a traditional one, with the grapes being fermented in large oak barrels for a period of 10-12 days. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for a minimum of 18 months, giving it a deep ruby red colour and a bouquet of ripe red fruits, such as cherries and plums, with a hint of spice.

On the palate, La Bogliona is full-bodied and well-structured, with a good balance of acidity and tannins. The wine has a long and persistent finish, with a touch of vanilla and oak. This wine is best enjoyed with hearty meat dishes, such as roasted lamb or beef, or with aged cheeses.

Scarpa is known for producing high-quality wines that are a true reflection of the Piedmont region. La Bogliona is no exception, and it is a wine that is sure to impress even the most discerning wine connoisseur.
