About this armagnac
Baron de Sigognac represents a cornerstone of Armagnac production, crafted in the heart of France's most prestigious brandy region. The estate brings together traditional distillation methods with generations of expertise, producing spirits that reflect the character of the Gascony terroir. Each expression from Baron de Sigognac demonstrates the house's commitment to quality and authenticity in French brandy-making.
Armagnac from Baron de Sigognac offers a refined alternative to Cognac, with a distinctive regional character shaped by the chalky limestone soils and Atlantic climate of southwestern France. The spirit's complexity develops through careful aging in French oak, creating layers of flavor suited to contemplative sipping or as a sophisticated finish to fine dining. These are spirits for those who appreciate the nuances of traditional French production and seek beyond mainstream selections.
The Sigognac Legacy
Ingredients
- 60 ml 1961 Baron de Sigognac Bas Armagnac
- 20 ml aged balsamic vinegar reduction
- 15 ml fresh lemon juice
- 10 ml honey syrup
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 dash orange bitters
- 5 ml cognac (for rinse)
Method
- Rinse a chilled coupe glass with cognac and discard excess
- In a mixing glass, combine the Armagnac, balsamic reduction, lemon juice, and honey syrup
- Add ice and stir for 12-15 seconds until properly diluted and chilled
- Add both bitters to the mixture and stir once more
- Strain into the prepared coupe glass using a fine strainer
- Express the oils from an orange twist over the surface
Serve
Serve in a crystal coupe glass. Garnish with a single, precisely cut orange twist (2cm x 1cm) placed delicately on the rim, angled slightly into the drink. Accompany with a small slate coaster and serve at precisely 4°C.
