The southwest corner of Mallorca is where the island’s large yachts actually spend the summer. Puerto Portals has been the smart berth since the eighties, with a front row that is as much a restaurant terrace as a marina; Port Adriano, ten minutes further west at El Toro, was rebuilt to a Philippe Starck design and took the very large end of the fleet that Palma’s older harbours could not.

Both are a world away from Palma’s working waterfront half an hour up the road, and provisioning them is a different job. These are berths where the yacht is on display and the delivery has to be discreet and on time rather than simply accurate. We agree a window with the crew rather than a day, and we deliver to the passerelle.

Orders travel from our French cellar on EU logistics with the island crossing built in, no customs frontier, duties and paperwork handled, typically three to four working days from confirmation. In July and August we would ask for more notice than that, for the same reason everyone else on the island would: the boats are full.

What gets poured here is rosé and Champagne in daylight and serious wine after dark, and the gap between the two is wider than most lists allow for. We stock the full Provençal range along with grower Champagne and the Burgundy and Bordeaux an owner’s dinner needs, plus Mallorca’s own Binissalem and Pla i Llevant wines, which are now genuinely good and which guests ask for by name.
