Numanthia - Numanthia

Numanthia is a full-bodied red wine that is produced in the Toro region of Spain. It is made from 100% Tinta de Toro grapes, which are known for their thick skins and intense flavor. The wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, which gives it a complex and rich flavor profile.

On the palate, Numanthia is bold and powerful, with flavors of blackberry, black cherry, and dark chocolate. It has a long and lingering finish, with firm tannins that give it structure and balance. This wine is perfect for those who enjoy big, bold reds that pack a punch.

The history of Numanthia dates back to the 19th century, when the winery was founded by a group of French winemakers. Today, the winery is owned by LVMH, the luxury goods conglomerate, and is known for producing some of the finest wines in Spain.

Numanthia is best enjoyed with hearty meat dishes, such as grilled steak or roasted lamb. It also pairs well with strong cheeses, such as aged cheddar or blue cheese. For the ultimate experience, we recommend decanting the wine for at least an hour before serving to allow it to fully open up and reveal its complex flavors.

The aromas are mostly oak related with some toasted sesame seeds, sweet vanilla and cinnamon, some licorice and chocolate, and a core of very ripe black fruit. The oak is obviously of very good quality, but at the moment it dominates the wine and with time what emerges is still toffee, smoke and coal. The palate reveals a very young wine that is dense, tremendous, with high dry extract, concentrated, powerful, and full of dusty tannins and oak-related flavors.

Numanthia is a Spanish wine producer that has been making waves in the industry since its inception in 1998. The winery is located in the Toro region of Spain, which is known for producing bold and powerful red wines. Numanthia's wines are made from the Tinta de Toro grape, which is a local variant of the Tempranillo grape.

The history of Numanthia is relatively short, but it is already a storied one. The winery was founded by a group of French winemakers who were looking for a new challenge. They were drawn to the Toro region because of its unique terroir, which is characterized by a harsh continental climate and poor, rocky soils. The winemakers saw the potential for producing world-class wines in this region, and they set out to do just that.

The style of production at Numanthia is focused on quality over quantity. The winery produces a limited number of bottles each year, and each one is crafted with care and attention to detail. The grapes are hand-harvested and sorted, and only the best ones are used in the winemaking process. The wines are aged in French oak barrels for up to 18 months, which gives them a rich and complex flavor profile.

Numanthia's wines are known for their power and intensity. They are full-bodied and rich, with flavors of dark fruit, chocolate, and spice. The tannins are firm and structured, which gives the wines a long and satisfying finish. These wines are meant to be enjoyed with hearty, flavorful dishes like grilled meats and stews.

Overall, Numanthia is a producer that is worth seeking out for anyone who is looking for a bold and powerful Spanish wine. The winery's commitment to quality and attention to detail is evident in every bottle, and its wines are sure to impress even the most discerning wine connoisseur.
