Aberlour

Aberlour is a renowned wine producer located in the heart of Speyside, Scotland. This picturesque region is known for its scenic beauty and produces some of the world's most sought-after single malt whiskies. The distillery was founded in 1879 by James Fleming, who was inspired by the pure water source and fertile land surrounding the area.

The Aberlour distillery is situated on the banks of the River Spey, which is considered to be the lifeline of the region. The water from this river is used to produce the famous Aberlour whiskies, giving them a unique and distinct taste. The climate in Speyside is ideal for whisky production, with a cool and damp environment that allows for slow maturation of the spirits.

Aberlour is known for its traditional distillation methods, which have been passed down through generations of distillers. The distillery uses traditional copper stills to produce its whiskies, which are then matured in oak casks. This process gives the whiskies their signature smooth and rich flavor that has made Aberlour a favorite among whisky connoisseurs.

The Aberlour range includes a variety of single malt whiskies, each with its own unique character and flavor profile. The flagship expression is the Aberlour 12 Year Old, which is a smooth and well-balanced whisky with hints of sherry, honey, and spices. Other popular expressions include the Aberlour 16 Year Old, which has a richer and more complex flavor, and the Aberlour A'Bunadh, which is a cask strength whisky with a bold and intense flavor.

In addition to its exceptional single malt whiskies, Aberlour also produces a range of limited edition and special release bottlings. These include the Casg Annamh, which is aged in a combination of ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks, and the Aberlour 18 Year Old, which is mature

Aberlour

Aberlour is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery located in the village of Aberlour, on the banks of the River Lour in Speyside, Scotland. The distillery draws water from Ben Rinnes and operates within one of Scotland's most densely concentrated whisky-producing regions. Speyside is home to more distilleries than any other Scottish region and is generally associated with a particular style of single malt.

Speyside whiskies are characterised by their relatively approachable, often fruit-forward profiles, with notes of orchard fruit, dried fruit, and spice being common across the region. Aberlour places particular emphasis on cask maturation, using a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry oak, the latter contributing darker fruit, toffee, and warming spice notes that are a hallmark of the distillery's house style. Double cask maturation is central to how Aberlour develops its whiskies.

The range includes an age-stated 10 year old expression as well as Casg Annamh, a Gaelic phrase meaning "rare cask." Casg Annamh is a batch-release bottling finished in first-fill oloroso sherry casks, which gives it a richer, more pronounced sherry influence compared to core range expressions.
