Thomas Morey

Thomas Morey is a renowned wine producer based in the Burgundy region of France. The estate was founded in 2006 by Thomas Morey, a fourth-generation winemaker from a family of vigneron. His ancestors have been cultivating vines in the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation since the late 18th century, making Thomas Morey's wines a true representation of the terroir and tradition of the region.

Located in the heart of the Cote de Beaune, Thomas Morey's vineyards cover a total of 12 hectares, with a majority of their vines planted in the prestigious Chassagne-Montrachet appellation. The winery follows a sustainable approach to winemaking, with a deep respect for the environment and the natural balance of the vineyards. This allows for the production of wines that are a true expression of their terroir and showcase the unique characteristics of each vintage.

One of the distinct features of Thomas Morey's wines is their focus on single vineyard bottlings. Each plot of land is carefully selected and managed separately, allowing for a better understanding and appreciation of the different microclimates and soil types within the appellation. This attention to detail and dedication to quality has earned Thomas Morey a reputation as one of the top producers in Chassagne-Montrachet.

The winery specializes in the production of white Burgundy wines, with a small production of red wines as well. Their white wines are made from Chardonnay grapes, with a range of Premier Cru and Grand Cru bottlings that consistently receive high ratings from critics and wine enthusiasts alike. These wines are known for their elegance, purity, and complexity, with a perfect balance of fruit, acidity, and minerality.

In addition to their outstanding white wines, Thomas Morey also produces a small amount of red wine from Pinot Noir grapes. These wines are equally impressive, with a delicate and refined character that reflects the unique ter

Thomas Morey is a winemaker based in Chassagne-Montrachet, on the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy. He represents a younger generation of the Morey family, a name long associated with this village, and began producing wines under his own domaine label. His wines come from vineyards across the two neighbouring white-wine appellations of Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet.

Both appellations sit at the heart of Burgundy's white wine country, where Chardonnay grown on Kimmeridgian limestone and marl soils produces wines of notable minerality and structure. Chassagne-Montrachet tends toward a slightly broader, more textured expression, while Puligny-Montrachet is typically more precise and linear. Premier Cru vineyards in both appellations occupy the most favoured mid-slope sites, with individual lieu-dits imparting distinct character to each wine.

The range includes Premier Cru whites from both appellations, among them La Truffière in Puligny-Montrachet and Les Chenevottes in Chassagne-Montrachet. La Truffière is a relatively small Premier Cru known for wines of depth and grip, while Les Chenevottes is one of Chassagne's more elegant Premier Cru sites, producing wines with good freshness and floral lift. All wines are made from Chardonnay.
