Tasting notes

Based on the 2016 vintage and disgorged in April 2021 with six grams per liter dosage, the NV Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Essentiel exhibits attractive aromas of crisp orchard fruit, buttered toast, dried white flowers and fresh herbs. Medium-bodied, taut and incisive, it's still so shut down from its recent disgorgement that it's hard to get a firm sense of its ultimate quality. However, the basis for complexity, balance and interest appears to be present.

About this sparkling wine

Piper-Heidsieck Essentiel Extra-Brut represents the house's commitment to crisp, elegant Champagne with minimal dosage. This extra-brut expression showcases the precision and complexity that defines the Piper-Heidsieck style, herbaceous notes, refined toast character, and a lean, mineral-driven profile that rewards serious sparkling wine enthusiasts.

Hailing from the prestigious Champagne region of France, Piper-Heidsieck blends fruit from the region's finest terroirs to create a wine of remarkable depth and finesse. The house's traditional winemaking philosophy emphasizes balance and complexity, allowing the natural character of Champagne's chalk-rich soils to shine through in every glass.

This versatile Champagne pairs beautifully with shellfish, crab, and lobster, while also complementing sushi, Asian cuisine, and refined tapas. Its crisp acidity and complexity make it equally at home as an aperitif or alongside Brie, Parmesan, and citrus-based dishes. An excellent choice for discerning palates seeking authentic, unostentatious Champagne.
