About this cognac
Paul Giraud is a family domaine producing Cognac from its own vineyards in the Grande Champagne cru, the most prized of Cognac's growing zones, valued for the slow, fine-boned eaux-de-vie its chalky soils produce. The VSOP designation places this in the mid-tier of age and complexity, blended and aged to the house's own standard.
Expect the classic Grande Champagne profile: dried fruit, subtle floral notes, and a long, clean finish with good structure. Serve neat or over a single ice cube as an after-dinner spirit, or keep it to hand for guests who want something considered rather than showy.
The Giraud Reverie
Ingredients
- 60 ml Paul Giraud VSOP Cognac
- 20 ml Dry Vermouth
- 15 ml Crème de Violette
- 10 ml Fresh Lemon Juice
- 5 ml Honey Syrup
- 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
- 1 dash Orange Bitters
Method
- Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake vigorously for 12-15 seconds until well-chilled.
- Double strain through a fine mesh strainer into the prepared glass.
- Stir gently to settle the drink.
Serve
Serve in a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a thin lemon twist expressed over the surface and a single candied violet placed delicately on the rim. Present with a small card describing the Paul Giraud VSOP provenance.
