A distinctive Sancerre from a biodynamic estate with a cult following worldwide. Certified biodynamic since 2017, ‘let nature do its work’ is the motto at Domaine du Nozay. Here, ‘vigneron’ Cyril de Benoist believes in letting the grapes express their terroir, by minimising additions throughout the growing and winemaking process. This means the vines are not treated with chemicals, only indigenous yeasts are used to start fermentation, and minimal sulphur is added during winemaking. Organic and biodynamic Sancerre, this is beautifully structured with generous, creamy fruit and subtle minerality. Made by our long-standing friends, the de Benoist family, passionate viticulturalists and winemakers, dedicated to quality and excellence.

Domaine du Nozay is a distinguished wine estate located in the Sancerre region of the Loire Valley, France. It was established in 1970 by Philippe de Benoist, brother-in-law to the famous Burgundian winemaker, Aubert de Villaine (co-owner of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti). Today, the domaine is managed by Philippe’s son, Cyril de Benoist, who has continued and expanded upon his father's legacy, focusing on producing high-quality Sauvignon Blanc.

**Viticulture and Winemaking:**
Domaine du Nozay is committed to organic and biodynamic farming practices, emphasizing sustainability and respect for the environment. Cyril de Benoist took these practices to heart and obtained organic certification for the estate, ensuring that all processes, from vineyard management to winemaking, adhere to organic standards. The vineyards are managed without the use of synthetic chemicals and focus on maintaining the health of the vineyard soil and the surrounding ecosystem.

**Wines and Style:**
Domaine du Nozay’s Sancerre is highly regarded for its pure expression of Sauvignon Blanc, showcasing the typical characteristics of the varietal and the region. The wines are known for their minerality, crisp acidity, and aromatic complexity, often displaying flavors of green apple, citrus, and flint — a reflection of the region's characteristic Kimmeridgian limestone and flint soils. These wines are fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks, which helps preserve the freshness and sharpness of the fruit.

**Philosophy:**
The philosophy at Domaine du Nozay emphasizes minimal intervention in the winemaking process, allowing the terroir and the character of the Sauvignon Blanc grape to express themselves fully. Cyril de Benoist’s approach is detail-oriented, focusing on creating wines that are both elegant and representative of the Sancerre appellation.

Domaine du Nozay is a prime example of a modern winery that adheres to traditional values and environmental ethics, producing wines that are not only expressive and beautifully crafted but also made in a way that respects and preserves the natural beauty and integrity of the Sancerre landscape.
