While most peated single malts seek the sweetness and balance brought by ageing, Ardbeg Wee Beastie has been aged for 5 years in Bourbon and Sherry Oloroso barrels in order to retain all the smoky intensity that we love so much among peat aficionados.

The Wee Beast's Lair is a stirred cocktail made with Ardbeg - Wee Beastie - 5 yrs, served in a glencairn glass or crystal rocks glass.

- Large cube
- Garnish
- Single large smoked oak ice cube in the center of the drink, thin lemon twist (2cm length) placed horizontally across the rim
Ingredients
- 45ml Ardbeg Wee Beastie
- 20ml Islay Single Malt (Lagavulin 16yr recommended)
- 15ml Laphroaig Quarter Cask
- 12ml Honey syrup (1:1 ratio)
- 8ml Fresh lemon juice
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 dash Peated oak smoke (Islay mist)
Method
- Pour honey syrup into a mixing glass
- Add both single malts and the Ardbeg Wee Beastie
- Add fresh lemon juice and Angostura bitters
- Fill mixing glass with large ice cubes
- Stir for 12-15 seconds until properly chilled
- Strain into prepared glass over a single large ice cube
- Express peated oak smoke over the surface using a smoking gun or torch-warmed wood chip
Serve
Serve in a Glencairn glass or crystal rocks glass. Garnish with a single large smoked oak ice cube in the center of the drink. Prepare a thin lemon twist (2cm length) and place it horizontally across the rim. Optional: present with a small smoking vessel containing Islay peat chips beside the glass for aromatic enhancement before service.
