The 2016 Domaine Gaudray Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes 1er Cru opens with a precise, mineral-driven nose of white peach, lemon curd and crushed flint, with subtle notes of hazelnut and fresh acacia blossom. The palate is taut and focused, with a fine, saline thread running through ripe citrus and stone fruit. The texture is silky but with excellent tension characteristic of a cooler corner of a warm vintage and the finish is long, chalk-dusted and clean.
