Grosset

Grosset is an Australian winery established by Jeffrey Grosset in the Clare Valley of South Australia in 1981. The estate has become synonymous with premium Riesling production, focusing exclusively on single-vineyard expressions that showcase the unique terroir of different Clare Valley sites. Grosset operates from a modest winery in Auburn and sources grapes from carefully selected vineyard parcels throughout the region.

The Clare Valley's continental climate, with warm days and cool nights, creates ideal conditions for Riesling production. The region's diverse soil types, ranging from red clay over limestone to slate and quartzite, contribute to the complexity and minerality that characterize Clare Valley Rieslings. Grosset's winemaking approach emphasizes minimal intervention, allowing the natural characteristics of each vineyard site to express themselves through extended lees contact and careful temperature control during fermentation.

The Springvale vineyard represents one of Grosset's key single-vineyard Riesling expressions. This site, located in the Polish Hill River subregion of Clare Valley, is planted on slate soils that contribute to the wine's distinctive mineral profile and aging potential. Grosset Rieslings are known for their precision, balance, and ability to develop complex honeyed and petrol notes with extended cellaring.
