Don Julio

Don Julio is a Mexican tequila producer based in the highlands of Jalisco, established by Don Julio González in 1942. The brand operates from the Los Altos region, where the red volcanic soil and high altitude create optimal growing conditions for blue agave. Don Julio focuses exclusively on 100% blue agave tequila production, utilizing traditional methods combined with modern techniques.

The distillery produces tequila across the full spectrum of aging classifications, from unaged blanco to extensively aged extra añejo expressions. Their tequilas are known for smooth, refined profiles that emphasize the natural agave character while incorporating subtle oak influences from barrel aging. The Los Altos terroir contributes bright, mineral-driven qualities to the agave, which translates into tequilas with notable clarity and complexity.

The current range includes blanco, reposado, añejo, and extra añejo expressions, with the 1942 bottling representing their premium extra añejo offering. The portfolio also features specialty releases like the Añejo Cristalino 70th Anniversary edition, which undergoes charcoal filtration to remove color while retaining the aged character.
