Château Larcis Ducasse

Château Larcis Ducasse is a renowned wine producer located in the Saint-Émilion appellation of the Bordeaux region in France. This historic estate has been producing exceptional wines for over a century, and is known for its elegant and complex wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Saint-Émilion region.

The history of Château Larcis Ducasse dates back to the 17th century, when the estate was owned by the Larcis family. It was later acquired by the Ducasse family in the 19th century, and it wasn't until the 20th century that the two names were combined to create the current name of the estate. In 2002, Château Larcis Ducasse was acquired by the Gratiot-Attmane family, who have continued to uphold the legacy of producing exceptional wines.

The estate covers 11 hectares of vineyards, which are predominantly planted with Merlot, the dominant grape variety in the Saint-Émilion region. The remaining vineyards are planted with Cabernet Franc, which adds structure and complexity to the wines. The vineyards are situated on a south-facing slope, with a mix of limestone and clay soils, which are ideal for producing rich and full-bodied wines.

Château Larcis Ducasse produces a range of wines, including their flagship wine, Château Larcis Ducasse, which is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. This wine is aged in French oak barrels for 18-20 months, resulting in a wine that is rich, full-bodied, and complex, with aromas of dark fruits, spices, and a hint of vanilla. It has received numerous accolades and high scores from critics, further cementing its reputation as one of the top wines from the Saint-Émilion appellation.

In addition to their flagship wine, Château Larcis Ducasse also produces a second wine,

Château Larcis Ducasse

Château Larcis Ducasse is a wine estate located on the Saint-Emilion plateau in Bordeaux, France. The property sits on the eastern edge of Saint-Emilion, bordering Pomerol, on a slope of clay and limestone soils that descend from the town toward the Dordogne valley. It holds Saint-Emilion Grand Cru status and has historically been regarded as one of the right bank's more serious terroir-driven estates.

Saint-Emilion is one of Bordeaux's largest and most varied appellations, built primarily on Merlot, with Cabernet Franc playing a significant supporting role. The combination of clay-limestone soils and a relatively continental microclimate on the plateau and côtes produces wines that tend toward structure and aromatic complexity, with Merlot providing flesh and Cabernet Franc contributing lift and herbal definition. The appellation's Grand Cru classification spans a broad range of estates, with quality varying considerably across the category.

Murmure de Larcis Ducasse, the wine represented here, is the estate's second label, blending Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2019 vintage was a warm, dry year in Bordeaux that generally produced concentrated, well-structured wines across the right bank, with good natural balance achieved through careful canopy and harvest management.
