Hints of rosemary and black olives join blueberries, dark chocolate and tree bark on the nose of Ott's 2017 Bandol Chateau Romassan. A Mourvèdre-dominated blend, this full-bodied wine is plush and supple, with a slightly creamy mid-palate and a velvety texture to the finish. I'd be surprised if this were long-lived by Bandol standards, but it provides plenty of pleasure now and probably will continue to do so up to a decade.
A garnet red brightened with purple tints. The bouquet reveals an aromatic array of red summer fruits dominated by Burlat cherry, immediately followed by redcurrant aromas. The silky palate is elegant and reveals the fruit-driven freshness and green peppercorns with a subtly liquorice edge to the finish. The whole rests upon a light tannic structure creating a sense of velvety softness.

Provence is a region in the south-east of France that is renowned for its production of rosé wines. The history of winemaking in Provence dates back to ancient times, with the Greeks and Romans introducing viticulture to the region. The style of production in Provence is heavily influenced by the Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and mild winters. The wines produced in Provence are typically light and refreshing, with a pale pink colour and delicate aromas of red fruits and flowers.
