Onshore Cellars is proud to offer wines from one of the most renowned wine producers in the world - Château Lafite Rothschild. Located in the Pauillac region in the Bordeaux appellation of France, Château Lafite Rothschild has a long and prestigious history dating back to the 17th century.

The estate was acquired by the Rothschild family in 1868, and since then, it has been passed down through generations, with each one adding their own touch to the winemaking process. Today, the estate is owned by Baron Eric de Rothschild, who has continued the legacy of producing exceptional wines that have earned worldwide recognition.

Château Lafite Rothschild is known for its exceptional red wines, which are made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot grapes. The unique terroir of Pauillac, with its gravelly soils, provides the perfect conditions for these grape varieties to thrive. The wines are aged in oak barrels for 18-20 months, resulting in a complex and elegant flavor profile.

The flagship wine of Château Lafite Rothschild is the Grand Vin, which is only produced in exceptional vintages. This wine has received numerous accolades and top ratings from wine critics, solidifying its position as one of the world's best wines. The estate also produces a second wine, Les Carruades de Lafite, which offers a more approachable and affordable option for wine enthusiasts.

Aside from its exceptional wines, Château Lafite Rothschild is also known for its commitment to sustainability. The estate has been practicing sustainable viticulture for decades, focusing on preserving the environment and producing wines that express the unique terroir of Pauillac.

At Onshore Cellars, we are delighted to offer a selection of wines from Château Lafite Rothschild, including the highly sought-after Grand Vin. These wines are a perfect addition to

Standish

Standish is a small Barossa Valley wine producer focused exclusively on Shiraz. The project is associated with winemaker Dan Standish, who has worked in the Barossa for a number of years and sources fruit from old-vine parcels across the valley and its surrounding sub-regions, including Eden Valley.

The Barossa Valley is one of Australia's most established Shiraz regions, known for its warm, dry continental climate and ancient soils that support some of the oldest surviving Shiraz vines in the world. Eden Valley, which sits at higher elevation to the east of the valley floor, produces a cooler-climate expression of Shiraz, typically more restrained and aromatic than the fuller-bodied styles associated with the lower Barossa floor. Standish's wines are generally regarded as being crafted with a focus on site expression and restraint rather than overt ripeness or extraction.

The Lamella is one of Standish's single-vineyard or single-site bottlings, drawing fruit from Eden Valley. As is characteristic of the producer's approach, it aims to reflect the specific character of its source rather than a generalised Barossa style, making it a useful reference point for understanding how Shiraz performs under the influence of elevation and cooler growing conditions within the broader Barossa wine zone.
