"Deep garnet colored with a touch of remaining purple at the rim, the 2012 The Laird is one of those wines you could just go on smelling all day. It opens with a complex perfume of kirsch, dried mulberries, blackberry tart and spice cake over cloves, mocha, dusty earth, incense, star anise, yeast extract and aged beef. The full-bodied palate is drop-dead seductive, unfurling in the mouth to reveal exotic spice, meat, earth and berry preserves layers, supported by firm, velvety tannins and seamless acid. The finish seems to go on forever—and this is exactly what you want it to do. Stunning." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown

"Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2008 The Laird is a little restrained to begin, opening out after a few moments and much coaxing to an extraordinary array of creme de cassis and black plum-based aromas with underlying chocolate box, licorice, exotic spice, oolong tea and clove hints with a touch of earthy loam. Richly textured, dense and with a provocative meaty/earthy/savory, the palate is complex and layered revealing menthol and ripe black fruit notes interplaying with firm, velvety tannins through to a very long, opulent and harmonious finish. Drink it from 2015 to 2030+. " - Lisa Perrotti-Brown

Onshore Cellars - ICONIC Producer

Torbreck is an Australian winery on the western ridge of the Barossa Valley at Marananga. Founded by David Powell in 1994, the famous vineyard was named after a forest in Scotland where he spent time as a lumberjack. He honed his oenological skills at Rockford, the celebrated Barossa winery.

Year after year David has refined the style of his wines, remaining faithful to his inspiration of the Rhône valley, perfecting his yield of Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro. The aim was to build one of the finest wine estates in the world and his vision was accomplished when the winery was named one of the World’s top 100 Wine Estates by Robert Parker.

“Every now and then, in life and in wine, we are presented with unique opportunities to express ourselves and create something truly remarkable. When these rare opportunities arise, we need to capture, nurture and develop them so that their potential is fulfilled.”Craig Isbel, Senior Winemaker
