In the glass, San Walfredo 2019 is almost black with a purple-violet hue. Noble and expressive on the nose: blackberry, black cherry, dark plum, pencil, sandalwood and balsamic notes. Subtle hints of lavender, graphite and tobacco add depth. The palate is silky and structured at the same time, with perfectly integrated tannins, taut acidity and an almost floating minerality that tells of the terroir near the coast. San Walfredo is a wine of aristocratic gravitas that doesn't pander, but quietly tells its story, about soils, climate and the care of a family that has concentrated its more than 600 years of experience in vinification on the essence of a single place. San Walfredo 2019 is not a statement, it is a legacy.

About this wine
Tenuta Guado al Tasso, an estate of Marchesi Antinori, represents the pinnacle of Bolgheri DOC winemaking on Tuscany's Tuscan Coast. This prestigious Merlot-based red wine emerges from the region's unique terroir, a convergence of maritime influences, alluvial soils, and Mediterranean microclimates that have made Bolgheri synonymous with world-class Super Tuscan production. The vineyard's coastal positioning moderates temperatures and extends the growing season, allowing full phenolic ripeness while maintaining elegant structure.
San Walfredo showcases the depth and refinement expected from one of Italy's most celebrated producers. At 15.5% ABV, this Bolgheri Superiore delivers the richness and complexity demanded by discerning collectors and fine-dining establishments. The wine's architecture, crafted by Antinori's generations of expertise, makes it an exceptional companion to robust proteins including lamb, venison, and game birds, while its mineral undertones complement mushroom-forward and charcuterie courses. This is a red wine built for the cellar and the table, equally at home in a yacht's wine collection or paired with chef-driven cuisine.
