The 2023 A Cruceira, a single-vineyard Albariño from 90-year-old vines on gneiss soils in Xesteiriña in the village of Sanxenxo. It fermented in 225-liter old oak barrels, where it matured for 12 months. The nose is perfumed, nuanced and attractive, with a salty and spicy twist, and the medium-bodied palate has a serious and austere mouthfeel. It comes in at 12.5% alcohol, with lots of freshness and integrated acidity, not as sharp as he has seen in some past vintages. It is superb.

About this wine
Rodrigo Mendez crafts some of Spain's most refined Albariño wines from the windswept vineyards of Rias Baixas in Galicia. A Cruceira represents the producer's commitment to terroir-driven winemaking, capturing the Atlantic influence and mineral-rich soils that define this prestigious region. The Albariño grape thrives in Rias Baixas' cool maritime climate, developing crisp acidity and complexity that elevates the wine beyond everyday drinking.
This white wine embodies the elegance expected in fine dining and upscale entertaining, ideal for pairing with shellfish, white fish, and seafood-forward pasta dishes. The precision of Rodrigo Mendez's viticulture translates to a wine of remarkable balance, equally at home alongside fresh tapas on a Mediterranean terrace or at a sophisticated dinner table. At 12.3% ABV, it maintains the freshness characteristic of premium Rias Baixas whites while delivering the sophistication discerning collectors seek.
