Four generations of the Pieropan family have been making wine in Soave since the 1890s and by the 1930s were the first to make a wine labeled as Soave. Today the estate, which covers 58 hectares on the stony hills of Soave Classico, is known as one of the most acclaimed in all of Italy for their white wines which exclusively feature traditional varieties.

They are most famous for their two single vineyard wines, the “Calvarino” and “La Rocca.”

Calvarino is a Soave classic and has been owned by the family since 1901. It is unoaked and with a high mineral quality coming from the classic volcanic basalt. La Rocca, situated on the only limestone bed in the area, is fermented in 500-liter barrels, and has won seven gold medals at the international Wine Challenge.

Also the family have been producing Valpolicella and Amarone with great success after purchasing a 16-hectare property in the Val d’Illasi,

From the 2015 vintage onwards, all Pieropan wines are certified organic, to respect the local terrain.

Veneto is a region located in the northeastern part of Italy, known for its rich history and diverse wine production. The region is home to some of the most famous Italian wines, including Prosecco, Amarone, and Valpolicella.

The winemaking tradition in Veneto dates back to the Roman era, and the region has been producing wine for over 2,000 years. The unique climate and soil conditions in Veneto make it an ideal location for growing a variety of grapes, including Glera, Corvina, and Rondinella.

Prosecco is one of the most popular wines produced in Veneto. It is a sparkling wine made from the Glera grape and is known for its light, refreshing taste. Prosecco is typically produced using the Charmat method, which involves fermenting the wine in large tanks before bottling.

Amarone is another famous wine produced in Veneto. It is a full-bodied red wine made from dried grapes, which gives it a rich, complex flavor. Amarone is typically aged for several years before it is ready to drink.

Valpolicella is a red wine produced in the Veneto region. It is made from a blend of Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara grapes and is known for its fruity, medium-bodied flavor. Valpolicella is typically aged for a short period before it is ready to drink.

Overall, Veneto is a region with a rich winemaking tradition and a diverse range of wines to offer. Whether you are looking for a light and refreshing Prosecco or a full-bodied Amarone, Veneto has something to offer every wine lover.
