Deep ruby with garnet hues, this Barrique Reserva opens with concentrated aromas of ripe dark cherry, blackberry, and dried plum, layered with notes of tobacco, dark chocolate, and a subtle hint of Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it is full-bodied and richly textured, with velvety tannins and flavors of black fruit, vanilla, and toasted oak. The finish is long, warm, and persistent, reflecting its notable 15% alcohol with impressive balance.

About this wine
Matusko's Barrique Reserva comes from the same Dingač vineyards on the Pelješac peninsula that define this small, steep Croatian appellation for Plavac Mali. Barrel ageing adds depth and polish to a wine already shaped by punishing sun exposure and low yields, and its 15% ABV signals real natural power.
Dark-fruited and full-bodied, with firm tannin and a warm, savoury finish, it is built for rich, char-grilled food. Beef, lamb and cured meats are natural partners, as are aged cheeses and oily fish that can match its weight. Serve at 16-18°C.
