About this whisky
Matsui Shuzo is a Japanese distillery that has been producing high-quality spirits for over a century. The Peated is one of their most popular offerings, and for good reason. This whisky is made using a unique combination of Japanese and Scottish techniques, resulting in a complex and flavorful spirit that is sure to impress even the most discerning whisky connoisseur.
The history of Matsui Shuzo dates back to 1910, when the company was founded by Kuramitsu Matsui. Originally, the distillery produced sake, but in the 1940s they began experimenting with whisky production. Matsui Shuzo was one of the first Japanese distilleries to produce whisky, and they quickly gained a reputation for their high-quality spirits.
The Peated is a relatively new addition to Matsui Shuzo's lineup, having been introduced in 2015. This whisky is made using a combination of Japanese and Scottish techniques. The barley used in the production of The Peated is sourced from Scotland, and is peated to a level of 50 ppm. This gives the whisky a smoky, peaty flavor that is reminiscent of traditional Islay whiskies.
The Peated is aged in oak barrels for at least three years, which allows the flavors to develop and mature. The result is a complex and flavorful whisky that is sure to impress even the most discerning whisky connoisseur. The nose is dominated by smoky, peaty notes, with hints of vanilla and oak in the background. On the palate, The Peated is rich and full-bodied, with flavors of smoke, peat, and oak. The finish is long and lingering, with a pleasant warmth that lingers on the tongue.
Overall, Matsui Shuzo's The Peated is a fantastic whisky that is sure to impress. Whether you are a fan of traditional Islay whiskies or are looking for something new and unique, The Peated is definitely worth trying. With its complex flavors and high-quality production, it is no wonder that Matsui Shuzo is one of the most respected distilleries in Japan.
