This is a light, grain-forward whisky, enjoyable albeit mild in flavor. Expect notes of cereal on the nose, with lemon zest, elderflower, and pear on the palate, and a light graininess lingering on the finish.

About this whisky
Matsui Shuzo is a Japanese distillery that has been producing high-quality spirits for over a century. The Kurayoshi 8-year-old whisky is a testament to their dedication to craftsmanship and attention to detail.
The history of Matsui Shuzo dates back to 1910 when the founder, Kurayoshi Matsui, established the distillery in Tottori Prefecture. The distillery was originally focused on producing sake, but in the 1940s, they began to produce whisky as well. Over the years, Matsui Shuzo has gained a reputation for producing some of the finest spirits in Japan.
The Kurayoshi 8-year-old whisky is a prime example of the distillery's commitment to quality. This whisky is made using a blend of malt and grain whiskies that have been aged for at least eight years in oak casks. The result is a smooth and complex whisky with notes of vanilla, caramel, and oak.
The production process for Kurayoshi 8-year-old whisky is meticulous. The distillery uses only the finest ingredients, including locally sourced water and barley. The barley is malted and then mashed to create a wort, which is then fermented using a unique strain of yeast. The resulting wash is then distilled twice in traditional pot stills before being aged in oak casks.
The casks used to age Kurayoshi 8-year-old whisky are carefully selected to ensure that the whisky develops the desired flavour profile. The casks are made from a variety of different types of oak, including American oak, European oak, and Japanese Mizunara oak. The whisky is aged for a minimum of eight years, during which time it develops its rich and complex flavour.
Overall, Matsui Shuzo's Kurayoshi 8-year-old whisky is a superb example of Japanese whisky. It is a testament to the distillery's commitment to quality and their dedication to producing some of the finest spirits in Japan. Whether you are a whisky connoisseur or a casual drinker, this whisky is sure to impress.
