Clear pale straw in colour with vibrant citrus and clean tropical passion fruit and lychees on the nose. Refreshing fruit characters of limes and green apples on the mid-palate with good lemon acidity on the finish. Extraordinary depth, density and lanolin smoothness. Fruit was hand-picked early in the morning to avoid the heat. Pressed then the juice naturally settled and fermented warm with natural yeast for regional definition and texture. No fining. Light filtration
The Kaesler vineyards (family owned and run by the Kaeslers from 1893 to 1986) were founded by Silesian pioneers who came to the Barossa Valley in the 1840s. In 1893 they first planted vines brought to the Barossa from the Rhône: genetic material which would face extinction in France due to phylloxera but would live on and prosper in the Barossa. After a long search for the perfect vineyard site, winemaker Reid Bosward and his partners bought the Kaesler vineyards in 1998, including the 3.7 acres of the now unique original vines planted in 1893 by the first generation of the Kaesler family.
