The 2012 Syrah, which comes grafted over Chardonnay vines and includes 10 to 15% whole cluster and none of the Viognier, has a refined, you might say, controlled bouquet with pure blackberry, raspberry, clove and violet scents that neatly intertwine. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chewy tannin. There is good depth here, quite foursquare for a Syrah, with a strict and linear, blackberry and boysenberry finish.
