Dureuil-Janthial
Dureuil-Janthial is a renowned wine producer based in the heart of Burgundy, France. This family-owned winery has been crafting exceptional wines for generations, earning a reputation for their dedication to quality and tradition.
Located in the small village of Rully, Dureuil-Janthial is situated in the Côte Chalonnaise region of Burgundy. This area is known for producing some of the finest white wines in the world, and Dureuil-Janthial is no exception. The region’s unique terroir, with its limestone and clay soils, provides the perfect conditions for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes.
The winery was founded in 1979 by brothers Vincent and Jean-Gilles Dureuil. They inherited their passion for winemaking from their father, who had been a vineyard worker in Rully. Today, Vincent’s son, Jérôme, has taken over the reins and continues to uphold the family’s winemaking traditions, while also implementing modern techniques to produce exceptional wines.
Dureuil-Janthial’s portfolio includes a range of red and white wines, with a focus on single-vineyard expressions. Their wines are made using organic and biodynamic farming practices, with a strong emphasis on respecting the land and the environment. This commitment to sustainability and quality is reflected in their wines, which are known for their purity, elegance, and complexity.
Their white wines, made from Chardonnay, are a true expression of Burgundy’s terroir. They are characterized by their vibrant acidity, minerality, and notes of citrus, stone fruits, and white flowers. Their red wines, made from Pinot Noir, are equally impressive, with a delicate balance of fruit, earthiness, and spice.
One of Dureuil-Janthial’s most sought-after wines is their Rully 1er Cru “La Pucelle.” This single-vineyard white wine is a true representation
Dureuil-Janthial
Dureuil-Janthial is a domaine based in Rully, a commune in the Côte Chalonnaise sub-region of Burgundy, France. The estate is associated with Vincent Dureuil-Janthial, who has built a reputation for producing wines across Rully's village and premier cru appellations, working with both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, though the focus here is on white wine production.
Rully sits south of the Côte de Beaune and produces Chardonnay-based whites that tend to be leaner and more mineral-driven than those from the more celebrated Côte de Beaune villages, often with a characteristic freshness and restrained fruit profile. The appellation includes a number of named premier cru lieux-dits, and its whites are generally considered among the more serious expressions from the Côte Chalonnaise, offering good value relative to their northern neighbours.
The Rully Maizières is one of the domaine's white wines, produced from Chardonnay and coming from a named vineyard within the appellation. Maizières is a lieu-dit within Rully, and wines from this plot typically reflect the stony, limestone-influenced soils that define the better parcels of the appellation.
