The 2000 Pavillon Rouge, exhibits a medium/dark ruby color with some lightening at the edge, notes of cedar, spice box, black cherries, and currants in very evolved style at full maturity. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.
The 2018 Pavillon Rouge is a blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 9% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc, with 14.5% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple colored, it leaps from the glass with vivacious scents of chocolate-covered cherries, mulberries and blackcurrant pastilles with suggestions of bay leaves, pencil lead, tapenade and dusty soil. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a generous amount of black fruit at the core with loads of earthy and savory accents and a soft, approachable frame, finishing long with an herbal lift. It is approachable now but should be a lot more expressive with a couple of years in bottle and drink nicely over the following 15 to 18 years or more.

Discover the depth and richness of Château Margaux - Pavillon Rouge, crafted by the renowned Château Margaux. This exquisite red wine showcases the best of its region, offering a symphony of flavors that include ripe berries, subtle spices, and hints of oak. Perfect for elevating any meal or occasion.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux (composed of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot) bursts forth with exuberant Morello cherries, black raspberries and cassis scents accented by touches of menthol, dark chocolate and garrigue plus a waft of tree bark. The palate is medium-bodied, very elegant, vivacious and fresh with satiny tannins and a nice long finish.
The 2014 Pavillon Rouge is a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. Bottled in July 2016, it remains quite rich and outgoing on the nose with copious red cherry, blackberry and spice-box aromas. With aeration it reveals a little more sous-bois, the oak nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with a tightly knit opening. Certainly this has lost the corpulence that it showed in barrel, lost that puppy fat. Now the linearity comes through, engendered by the cool nights during the growing season, and still delivers that mineral-rich finish. I still maintain that it will need three years in bottle just to soften the tannins.
The 2013 Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux, which was the smallest production ever at 50,000 bottles, has a breezy, red cherry and strawberry-scented bouquet that is simple but attractive. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly stringy tannin, moderate acidity, with a little chewiness on the finish. Drink over the next 4-6 years.
The second wine of Margaux, the Pavillon Rouge (63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, and the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot), exhibits more structure and masculinity than one normally expects. It has a deep ruby/purple color, nice floral and blackcurrant notes, some spice box, moderate tannin and medium body. This is a Pavillon Rouge that should admirably stand the test of time for 15-20 years. Its impressively long finish adds to its appeal and value. This wine will actually benefit from several years of bottle age and keep for 20 years.
Deep garnet in color, the 2010 Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux offers up scents of blackcurrant cordial, wild thyme and fertile loam with hints of cedar chest, pencil lead and tar. Medium-bodied, the palate is just a tad lean with chewy tannins and bold freshness, finishing on an herbal note.
Medium to deep garnet colored, the 2009 Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux features an expressive, beautifully floral nose of dried roses and candied violets over a core of kirsch, Black Forest cake and fragrant earth with touches of black tea and cigar box. Medium-bodied, the palate is soft, plush, elegant and open-knit with an effortlessness to its character and a perfumed finish.

Stylish and pure, the 2005 Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux is soft and round, with a deep ruby color, silky tannins, medium body and a lush, seductive mouthfeel. It is drinking well already and should continue to do so for another 8-10 years.
Also a stunning wine, the 2003 Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux is a sleeper of the vintage. Much fresher and less evolved than I would expect a second wine to be from this vintage, it is a Margaux-like effort with a flowery character, good precision and freshness, red and black currant notes, and an attractive, medium-bodied, surprisingly concentrated mouthfeel. It is clearly one of the finest second wines made in this vintage. It can be consumed over the next 5-8 years.

This estate's second wine, the 1995 Pavillon du Chateau Margaux, may turn out to be one of the most delicious examples the property has made. The wine is forward, sexy, round, and generous, with gobs of black fruit and a subtle dosage of new oak. It should drink well for 10-15 years.

Château Margaux, an iconic wine estate located in the prestigious Margaux appellation in the Médoc region of Bordeaux, boasts a rich history that stretches back to the 12th century. Renowned for producing exquisite and highly sought-after wines, Château Margaux has solidified its status as a symbol of elegance, refinement, and the epitome of Bordeaux winemaking. As one of the five First Growth estates in the 1855 Classification of the Médoc, Château Margaux's enduring legacy is a testament to its exceptional terroir and unwavering commitment to quality.

The origins of Château Margaux date back to the 12th century when it was known as "La Mothe de Margaux," a fortified castle surrounded by marshlands. Over the centuries, the estate underwent several transformations and ownership changes. In the 16th century, vineyards were established on the property under the stewardship of the Lestonnac family, marking the beginning of Château Margaux's journey as a world-class wine producer.

Nestled within 262 acres (106 hectares) of vineyards, Château Margaux's terroir is characterised by gravelly soils, which provide excellent drainage and encourage deep root penetration. The estate's unique microclimate, influenced by the nearby Gironde estuary, ensures optimal growing conditions for the predominantly planted Cabernet Sauvignon, along with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot grape varieties.

Winemaking at Château Margaux is a harmonious blend of traditional methods and cutting-edge technology. The grapes are meticulously hand-harvested and subjected to rigorous sorting processes to ensure only the highest-quality fruit is used. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel and wooden vats, followed by malolactic fermentation in oak barrels. The wines are aged for approximately 18 to 24 months in French oak barrels, with a portion of new oak utilised each year to impart subtle notes of vanilla, toast, and spice.

Château Margaux produces three distinctive wines: the Grand Vin, Château Margaux, the second wine, Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux, and a white wine, Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux. The Grand Vin is a blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. It is celebrated for its opulent fruit flavours, refined tannins, and remarkable ageing potential. The Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux, crafted from the estate's younger vines and blending Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, offers a more approachable, yet elegant and sophisticated style. The Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux, made entirely from Sauvignon Blanc, is a rarity in the Médoc and is lauded for its vibrant, mineral-driven character and exceptional longevity.

Château Margaux is not only dedicated to the production of world-class wines but also to preserving its rich heritage and sharing its passion for wine with enthusiasts. The estate offers a range of bespoke experiences, including guided tours, tastings, and special events, enabling visitors to immerse themselves in the captivating world of fine wine and the history of this extraordinary château.

In conclusion, Château Margaux's illustrious reputation, underscored by centuries of tradition and an unwavering dedication to excellence, has earned it a revered position within the pantheon of the world's most esteemed wine producers. As a shining example of Bordeaux winemaking at its finest, Château Margaux continues to captivate and inspire wine lovers around the globe.
