Onshore Cellars is proud to offer our customers a wide selection of high-quality wines from the renowned producer, Clos du Val. Located in the prestigious Napa Valley region of California, Clos du Val has been producing exceptional wines since 1972.
The winery was founded by John Goelet, a descendant of a prominent French winemaking family, who recognized the immense potential of the Napa Valley for producing world-class wines. With the help of legendary winemaker Bernard Portet, Clos du Val quickly gained recognition for their elegant, Bordeaux-style wines, which were a departure from the heavier, high-alcohol wines that were popular at the time.
One of the key factors that sets Clos du Val apart is their commitment to sustainable and organic farming practices. The winery is certified Napa Green, meaning they adhere to strict environmental standards in their vineyards and winemaking processes. This dedication to sustainability not only benefits the environment but also results in healthier and more flavorful grapes, which ultimately translates into exceptional wines.
Clos du Val's vineyards are located in the Stags Leap District, one of the most sought-after and prestigious sub-regions of the Napa Valley. The unique microclimate of this area, with its warm days and cool nights, is ideal for producing Cabernet Sauvignon, the flagship varietal of Clos du Val. The winery also has vineyards in the Carneros and Yountville appellations, allowing them to produce a diverse range of wines with distinct characteristics.
In addition to their acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon, Clos du Val also produces Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, and other varietals. Each wine is crafted with precision and care, highlighting the unique terroir of the Napa Valley. The winery's commitment to quality is evident in every bottle, making them a favorite among wine critics and enthusiasts alike.

Clai
Clai is a small wine producer based in Istria, the triangular peninsula on Croatia's Adriatic coast shared with Slovenia and Italy. The estate is known for a committed approach to natural and biodynamic viticulture, working with indigenous Istrian varieties and minimal intervention in the cellar. Their wines have attracted attention among natural wine enthusiasts in Europe and beyond.
Istria's combination of red and grey soils (locally known as terra rossa and flysch), a Mediterranean climate tempered by Adriatic breezes, and significant diurnal temperature variation creates conditions well suited to aromatic white varieties. The region's signature grape is Malvazija Istarska, Istrian Malvasia, a variety distinct from other Malvasias found around the Mediterranean. It typically produces wines with herbal and stone fruit character, good natural acidity, and a pleasantly bitter finish. In the hands of producers working with extended skin contact or low-sulphur approaches, it can take on additional texture and complexity.
The Sv. Jakov Malvazija is an example of Clai's approach to this grape, vinified in a style that reflects the producer's preference for traditional and low-intervention methods. The wine takes its name from the village of Sv. Jakov (Saint James) in the Brtonigla area of northwestern Istria, grounding it in a specific terroir within the broader regional context.
