Domaine Comte Abbatucci is a renowned wine producer located in the Corsican region of France. The winery is situated in the heart of the Taravo valley, surrounded by lush mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. The winery is owned and run by Jean-Charles Abbatucci, a direct descendant of General Jean-Charles Abbatucci, who was a hero during the French Revolution.
The winery has a long and rich history, dating back to the 18th century when the Abbatucci family first started producing wine. However, it wasn't until the 1960s that the winery became recognized for its high-quality wines. Jean-Charles Abbatucci took over the winery in the 1980s and has since then focused on producing wines that are a true reflection of the unique terroir of Corsica.
The domaine covers 18 hectares of land, with 17 hectares dedicated to vines and one hectare to olive trees. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 200 meters, allowing for cool temperatures and optimal sunlight exposure, creating the perfect conditions for growing grapes. The winery follows strict organic and biodynamic practices, with all grapes hand-picked and sorted to ensure only the best quality grapes are used in production.
The winery produces a range of wines, including red, white, and rosé, all made from indigenous grape varieties such as Niellucciu, Sciacarellu, and Vermentinu. The flagship wine of Domaine Comte Abbatucci is the Cuvee Faustine, made from a blend of Niellucciu, Sciaccarellu, and Carcajolo Nera grapes. This wine is aged in oak barrels for 12 months, resulting in a complex and elegant wine with notes of red berries, spices, and a hint of tobacco.
In addition to their wines, Domaine Comte Abbatucci also produces a range of spirits, including the famous
