Acknowledged by Thomas Jefferson, third president of the USA, as the best Sauternes in Barsac, Château Coutet has been producing wine since 1643. Officially recognised as one of the Classified First Growths of the Sauternes and Barsac appellations in 1855, the winery was bought by Baron Philippe de Rothschild in 1994. The winemaking team is now advised by the technical staff from Château Mouton de Rothschild.

An English fortress built in the 13th century, Château Coutet is one of the most famous wines of the Sauternes-Barsac appellation.
