Moreau Pere & Fils

Moreau Pere & Fils is a renowned producer of high-quality wines from the Chablis region in Burgundy, France. Founded in 1814, this family-owned and operated winery has a long history of producing exceptional wines that showcase the unique terroir of Chablis.

Chablis is located in the northernmost part of Burgundy and is known for its cool climate and mineral-rich soils, which are ideal for growing the Chardonnay grape. The vineyards of Chablis are classified into four appellations, with the most prestigious being the Chablis Grand Cru, followed by Chablis Premier Cru, Chablis, and Petit Chablis. Moreau Pere & Fils owns vineyards in all four appellations, allowing them to produce a range of wines that truly represent the diversity and complexity of Chablis.

One of the key factors that sets Moreau Pere & Fils apart from other producers in the region is their commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly winemaking practices. The winery has been certified as a High Environmental Value (HEV) producer, which means they use sustainable methods to protect the environment and preserve the natural balance of the vineyards. This dedication to sustainability not only benefits the environment but also results in wines that are of the highest quality.

Moreau Pere & Fils is best known for their Chablis Premier Cru and Grand Cru wines, which are considered some of the best in the region. These wines are aged in oak barrels, adding complexity and depth to the already vibrant and mineral-driven flavors of Chablis. The winery also produces a range of Chablis and Petit Chablis wines, which are perfect for everyday drinking and showcase the fresh and crisp characteristics of Chablis.

In addition to their exceptional wines, Moreau Pere & Fils also offers guided tours and tastings at their winery, allowing visitors to experience the beauty of the Chablis region and taste their

Domaine Christian Moreau Père & Fils is a wine producer based in Chablis, the northernmost appellation of Burgundy in France. The domaine works exclusively with Chardonnay, as is required throughout Chablis, and focuses on expressing the distinctive character of its terroir through a range that spans the appellation's hierarchy from village-level Chablis through premier and grand cru vineyards.

Chablis occupies a unique position in the Chardonnay world. Its cool continental climate and Kimmeridgian limestone soils, composed of ancient marine deposits rich in fossilized oyster shells, produce wines with a characteristic steely minerality, high acidity, and restrained fruit. These qualities set Chablis apart from warmer Burgundy appellations to the south and make it one of the most distinctive expressions of unoaked or lightly oaked Chardonnay anywhere in France.

The current range includes the Chablis "Pargues," a village-level wine from the 2021 vintage. Pargues is a lieu-dit, or named plot, within the Chablis appellation, and its inclusion on the label signals an interest in site-specific expression rather than generic blending, an approach that reflects the domaine's broader commitment to terroir-driven winemaking.
