Château Margaux

Château Margaux, at the heart of the village of the same name, is one of Bordeaux’s greatest estates, and also one of its largest. Covering 260 hectares, the park and its exquisite Palladian mansion house are as well known a wine landmark as any other the world over. 87 hectares are planted to vine, with the celebrated Pavilion Blanc being produced from a further 12 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc.

But it is the red Grand Vin that makes Château Margaux so special. The most elegant and floral of the great properties of Bordeaux and one of the original four Premier Grands Crus Classés, it epitomises the style of the commune.

With a history dating back to the 12th Century, Château Margaux has been in the hands of the Mentzelopoulos family since 1978 and since then has consistently produced the finest wines in the Médoc. Now under the leadership of Madame Corinne Mentzelopoulos, recent developments have included a fabulous new cellar designed by Norman Foster, sympathetically dug into and blending with the surrounding countryside.

The whole world seems to have their eyes riveted on Bordeaux, where the demand for these great wines never stops growing.
