Ferrari is a prestigious wine producer located in the Trentino region of northern Italy. Founded in 1902 by Giulio Ferrari, the winery has become synonymous with high-quality, traditional method sparkling wines that are often referred to as "Italy's answer to Champagne."
The region of Trentino is known for its stunning landscapes, with the Dolomite mountains providing a dramatic backdrop to the vineyards. The climate is influenced by the Mediterranean and Alpine climates, creating a unique terroir that is ideal for growing grapes. The region is also known for its crisp, cool nights and warm, sunny days, which are perfect conditions for producing grapes with balanced acidity and intense flavor.
Ferrari is located in the Trento appellation, which is renowned for its sparkling wines made using the traditional method, also known as metodo classico. The grapes used in Ferrari's wines are primarily Chardonnay, with smaller amounts of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.
One of the unique aspects of Ferrari's winemaking is their use of the autolytic method, where the wines are aged on their lees (yeast sediment) for an extended period of time. This process gives the wines a distinctive bready and nutty character, adding depth and complexity to the final product.
Ferrari produces a range of sparkling wines, from their classic Brut to the more prestigious Perlé and Giulio Ferrari Riserva. Each wine is carefully crafted to showcase the unique terroir of Trentino and the expertise of the winemakers. The wines are aged for a minimum of 24 months, with some of the top cuvées aged for up to 10 years.
In addition to their sparkling wines, Ferrari also produces a small amount of still wines, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Blanc. These wines are also of exceptional
