Tasting notes
Woodford Reserve is a bourbon produced in the oldest distillery of the United States built in 1812. Distilled three times in copper stills, it is the only American whiskey to achieve this distillation technique. The perfectly balanced taste of our Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is comprised of more than 200 detectable flavor notes, from bold grain and wood, to sweet aromatics, spice, and fruit & floral notes. Heavy nose with rich dried fruit, hints of mint and oranges covered with a dusting of cocoa. Faint vanilla and tobacco spice. Rich, chewy, rounded and smooth taste, with complex citrus, cinnamon and cocoa. Toffee, caramel, chocolate and spice notes abound. Silky smooth, almost creamy at first with a long, warm satisfying tail finish.

About this whisky
Woodford Reserve is a premium straight bourbon whiskey that is produced in the heart of Kentucky. The brand has a rich history that dates back to the early 1800s when Elijah Pepper began distilling whiskey in the area. The distillery was later purchased by Dr. James Crow, who is credited with developing the sour mash process that is still used in bourbon production today.
Woodford Reserve is made using a unique combination of grains, including corn, rye, and malted barley. The whiskey is aged in new, charred oak barrels for a minimum of four years, which gives it a rich, complex flavor profile. The barrels are stored in temperature-controlled warehouses, which helps to ensure consistency in the aging process.
The style of production used by Woodford Reserve is known as small batch distilling. This means that only a limited number of barrels are used to produce each batch of whiskey, which allows for greater control over the final product. The distillery also uses traditional copper pot stills, which are known for producing a smoother, more refined spirit.
In terms of the type of whiskey produced by Woodford Reserve, it is a straight bourbon whiskey. This means that it is made from at least 51% corn and aged in new, charred oak barrels for a minimum of two years. The whiskey is also bottled at a minimum of 80 proof, which gives it a bold, robust flavor.
Woodford Reserve is known for its smooth, rich flavor profile, which is characterized by notes of vanilla, caramel, and oak. It is a versatile whiskey that can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or in a variety of cocktails. Some popular cocktails that feature Woodford Reserve include the Old Fashioned, the Manhattan, and the Mint Julep.
Overall, Woodford Reserve is a premium bourbon whiskey that is steeped in history and tradition. Its unique combination of grains, small batch production, and aging process give it a distinct flavor profile that is sure to please whiskey enthusiasts around the world. Whether enjoyed neat or in a cocktail, Woodford Reserve is a true Kentucky classic that is sure to impress.
