Tasting notes
  • 91 Points - The Wine Advocate

"Blended of 77% Grenache, 15% Mataro and 8% Shiraz, the 2014 The Steading has a pale to medium garnet color and gives relatively understated dried mulberry, preserved plums and Chinese five spice notes with hints of black pepper, earth and dried herbs. Full-bodied, with plenty of spicy expressiveness to match the dried berry and earthy flavors, it is rich and supple with a long pepper-laced finis." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown

      Onshore Cellars - ICONIC Producer

Torbreck is an Australian winery on the western ridge of the Barossa Valley at Marananga. Founded by David Powell in 1994, the famous vineyard was named after a forest in Scotland where he spent time as a lumberjack. He honed his oenological skills at Rockford, the celebrated Barossa winery.

Year after year David has refined the style of his wines, remaining faithful to his inspiration of the Rhône valley, perfecting his yield of Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro. The aim was to build one of the finest wine estates in the world and his vision was accomplished when the winery was named one of the World’s top 100 Wine Estates by Robert Parker.

“Every now and then, in life and in wine, we are presented with unique opportunities to express ourselves and create something truly remarkable. When these rare opportunities arise, we need to capture, nurture and develop them so that their potential is fulfilled.”Craig Isbel, Senior Winemaker
