Like Zacapa 23 rum, Edición Negra is made using the “Sistema Solera” technique, in which rums aged at least 6 years are blended and then aged in a succession of barrels.
Zacapa Edición Negra is a bold take on Zacapa. It benefits from an additional year of ageing in toasted American oak barrels, which gives it a new, more structured facet with intense smoky flavours.
Lorena Vasquez, Zacapa's cellar master, was inspired by the world of whiskey to create a drier, woodier Zacapa liquid. With Zacapa Edición Negra, she has enriched the world of rum with a new smoky note, a new expression of woodiness.
