The 2020 Quinta do Monte Xisto is a 60/35 blend of Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca with a dollop of Sousão, all aged for 18 months in 40% new and mostly French oak. It comes in at 14.2% alcohol. Aromatic, this has a nose with a touch of menthol that I presume is a wood artifact, but this seems a little different this year. The rest, though, is very refined. The mid-palate finesse is exceptional. There's a juicy, fresh finish and it tastes great. There have been some years where this was sterner when young, but this is a more accessible style. Still, I'm not quite sure this is on the level of some recent beauties. It's very good, but perhaps not great this year.
