About this whisky

Macallan is a renowned distillery located in the heart of Speyside, Scotland. With a rich history dating back to 1824, Macallan has established itself as one of the world's leading producers of fine Scotch whisky.

The distillery's commitment to quality and craftsmanship is evident in every bottle of Macallan whisky, including their exceptional 12-year-old expression, Fine Oak.

The production of Macallan whisky begins with the careful selection of the finest ingredients. The distillery sources locally grown barley, which is malted and then mashed to extract the sugars needed for fermentation. The use of traditional floor maltings and copper pot stills ensures that the whisky retains its distinctive character and flavor profile.

Once the fermentation process is complete, the whisky is transferred to oak casks for maturation. Macallan is known for its unique approach to cask selection, using a combination of American oak and European oak casks. This dual cask maturation imparts a complex range of flavors and aromas to the whisky, resulting in a truly exceptional drinking experience.

The Macallan 12-year-old Fine Oak is a testament to the distillery's commitment to excellence. This expression is matured in a combination of American oak ex-bourbon casks, European oak ex-sherry casks, and hogshead casks. The use of different cask types adds layers of complexity to the whisky, with notes of vanilla, citrus, and dried fruits complemented by hints of spice and oak.

The Macallan 12-year-old Fine Oak is a well-balanced and approachable whisky, making it a perfect choice for both whisky enthusiasts and newcomers alike. Its smooth and mellow character is achieved through the careful blending of whiskies from different casks, ensuring consistency and quality in every bottle.

In addition to the 12-year-old expression, Macallan offers a range of other age statements and limited edition releases. Each expression showcases the distillery's commitment to craftsmanship and attention to detail. Whether you prefer a younger, vibrant whisky or a more mature and complex dram, Macallan has something to suit every palate.
