A rush of corn and banana upfront that’s followed by sugary blend of vanilla and walnut. Minor traces of smoke, cinnamon, and maple creep in and help add some additional nuance. Although its thin mouthfeel is regrettable and 80 proof unappealing, it thankfully drinks ever so slightly hotter. This all adds up to a palate that is distinctly Jack and makes it surprisingly fun to drink.

Jasper Newton "Jack" Daniel was born September 5, 1850. But some biographers lean more towards September 1846. Very precocious, Jack Daniel would have bought the distillery from his former boss at the age of thirteen! While these dates are controversial, Jack Daniel, contrary to some rumors, is anything but a legend.

This man, with the famous mustache, small in size was, on the other hand, immense in talent. A true visionary, Jack Daniel was one of the forerunners of modern marketing; he understood the strength of a brand before anyone else.

This is undoubtedly the reason why more than a century after its launch the famous Old N ° 7 is the best-selling American whiskey on the planet. Jack Daniel's When Jack Daniel passed away in 1911, his nephew, Lem Motlow, succeeded him as head of the distillery. During Prohibition, he went into exile in Saint Louis (Missouri) where he established a new distillery.

Then in 1938, Lem Motlow relaunched the Lynchburg site and three years later, the Tennessee Whiskey name was officially recognized. It is a process of filtering through maple charcoal, the "Lincoln County Process", which distinguishes it from the Bourbon appellation. One of the highlights of the guided tour of the distillery is the room where the many filtering tanks are gathered.
