93 Points - The Wine Advocate
"Henschke's 2013 Keyneton Euphonium is deep garnet-purple in colour and exudes lovely, expressive blackberries and cherries on the nose, with menthol, pepper, anise and cloves—plus a waft of fragrant earth. A full, rich and concentrated blend, with firm and grainy tannins, this wine is well balanced and possesses great structure." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown
Wine Makers Notes
Deep crimson in colour. An intense nose of ripe mulberry, plum, blue and black berry fruits and anise gives way to underlying floral violet notes and hints of cassis, sage and pepper spice. The beautifully balanced palate shows layers of sweet, concentrated fruit and texture, with fine-grained tannins for a long and elegant finish.
Onshore Cellars - ICONIC Producer
Henschke is located in the Eden Valley in South Australia and is a remarkable vineyard steeped in history. Johann Christian Henschke settled on the farm over 165 years ago and began producing wine on the rich, red, brown earth. Stephen and Prue, a husband and wife team and the fifth generation, now manage the estate and produce one of the best Australian single vineyard Shiraz, Hill of Grace.
A unique, delineated, historic vineyard that lies opposite an old Lutheran church, which is named after a region in Silesia called Gnadenberg, meaning Hill of Grace. With vines dating back to 1860 and biodynamic vineyard management, Stephen and Prue are producing wines of intense colour and flavour.
Recently, Hill of Grace 2012 was awarded ‘Wine of the Year’ and ‘Best Shiraz’ by distinguished Australian wine critic James Halliday.
